River Light

Still experimenting with this series of river paintings.  It's difficult, challenging, amazing, wonderful and incredible to see how close you can try to get to capturing that light.  Of course it's impossible, but the pursuit is exhilarating.  As I told my mom yesterday:  "I think there's a reason the word "delight" has "light" in it.
(This one is about 3' x 5' in thick rich oils).

I love artwork that lives and evolves. How do you know when a piece is "finished"? Does it have to be? That's why I'm drawn to improvisational music. But to sell or transfer ownership of a piece of art, I realize there has to be an endpoint. Alas.

"Artwork is never finished, only abandoned."

I sometimes have that feeling...

The difference between music and graphic. I recall Joni Mitchell, on her album "Miles of Aisles," commenting on an audience request for a song, "Hey, did someone ask Picasso to paint 'Stormy Night' again?"
