Hi Dear Blogging friends,

As part of the many changes I'm going through, I will be switching over to a new blogging platform.  You can get to it through my website:

www.sallyanger.com

If you bookmarked that website in the past, then your bookmark may no longer work.  If it doesn't, simply type in (or click on this one)   www.sallyanger.com  and you (hopefully!) will be directed to the new spot.  Thanks for looking.

Saying a long good-bye to Crosswinds

Theo, my mom and I have been saying good-bye to our beloved Crosswinds this spring.  I am fortunate to have buyers who seem to love the place as much as I do.  That helps.  The deal is scheduled to close in early June (fingers crossed), and then I'm just going to stay loose and travel around for awhile, eventually making my way back to the town in Spain with which I fell in love, Gaucin...As my friend Sam said, quoting a popular song, "Every new beginning is another beginning's end."

Now that I'm back state-side (for a while anyway), please let me invite you to the Alamance Arts Council in Graham, NC.  My Moving Colors show will be opening there on the evening of Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.  The show will run through June 17, 2017.

Moving Colors is the show that grew out of my cross country travels.  It incorporates the concept of "flow" - from the many beautiful waters, to the flow of ideas, emotions and even of traffic(!) and time...and the ability of color to "move" us.  I hope you can join us.

Reviving the blog...

Hello dear blogging friends,

Please forgive my absence.  I have no excuse.

Now I'm out exploring the world again and want to share some of the places/views/ideas/art I'm experiencing along the way.

I am currently in Southern Spain, in the beautiful artist community of Gaucin.  From my deck on the roof of the house where I'm staying (more about that later) I can see across the white-washed houses perched on the side of the mountain, across the valley to the Mediterranean Sea.  In the photo below, you can just make out the Rock of Gibralter, and then the mountains of Morocco across the sea.  I am grateful to be here.

Here is a photo of the town at dusk.

Heading out on a new adventure!

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go!  I fly out today for South Africa.  Will first do a safari for a week in Botswana.  From there will head to Capetown, the peninsula, the garden route, and wine country.  If the technology cooperates, I will post photos along the way...woo hoo!  Can't wait to see the spot where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet...and in a fun little twist, I'm leaving on the fall equinox and arrive on the spring equinox!  Pretty cool.

Show opening at Carolina Creations!

I'll be taking down the Moving Colors show at the Craven County Arts Council this week, but will be installing a new show at Carolina Creations in New Bern on Friday, July 1.  This smaller show will be of North Carolina Landscapes - seems like a fitting follow-up to the Moving Colors images from the cross country trip.    Be great to see you at the opening during ArtWalk on Friday, July 8th, 5:30 - 8 pm.

If you missed Moving Colors and want to see it, you'll have another chance!  It will be "moving" to the Alamance Arts Council in Graham, NC next year - it will be on display in their beautiful gallery for May - June, 2017.

Here's one of the landscapes for the Carolina Creations show:

One of the new Moving Colors series in the show...

I hope you'll get a chance (if you haven't already) to swing by the show at the Craven Arts Council.  It will be up through the end of June.  I plan to be there for the June ArtWalk on June 10, 5-8pm, if you want to stop by and say "Hi!"     : )
