Tallahassee was a bust. Rain did us in… this is what it looked like the day I left...
...but I met some great artists! Check out this Facebook page: I'm At the Art Show and Its raining! a few posts down and you'll see us huddled in the parking garage...
Better luck next time!
Now to finish preps for the grand adventure west… stay tuned.
Theo's helping me get my paintings organized for the LeMoyne Chain of Parks art show in Tallahassee, FL. Its next week-end, and I'm heading out tomorrow…My cousin Carolyn is going with me to help! Yay! The last time she went camping with me we coined a new term: We said that we were reaching "Maximum Fabulosity!" … if you're in the area I'm in booth #106 on Williams Lane - come on by and say Hi!
Finished up a couple 20 x 20 paintings and took them to the Village Gallery in Oriental. The first one is called "I know what you're thinking":
And the second one is called "Ya think?":
Ah, it does feel good to work on a bigger canvas again. This one is 3' x 3.' After looking at it for awhile, I decided to call it "Supplication." I kinda like how the nose is a little crooked...
I've been working on some 20 x 20 canvases. After the little 8 x 10's I was doing they feel really good, but not as liberating as my *BIG* canvases… ah well, variety is the spice of life. I got several finished up this week, and I'm pleased with the results. This first one is "Power":
Also like a couple I took into Fine Art at Baxter's in New Bern today - here's one of those, which I titled "Apres" - which means "after"in French:
It really is a bit strange painting this small, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. Its good practice for the "Painting-A-Day" project on my upcoming cross-country trip. Here's another I finished this week. I call it "Esperance"(hope).
Great fun to be included as part of a talented group of artists in Side Show Art. My section is "live" now - take a look! This seemed like a perfect venue to offer some of my smaller "painting - a - day" paintings for sale easily online. Will be fun to add paintings to it along the road while I make my cross country trip too.
Here's an 8" x 10" that I finished this morning. I do not offer this small a size at my galleries so it is not in competition with them. And part of the mission of Side Show Art is to promote each artist's galleries too, so its a win-win.
This little painting is called "Intense" :
